Results of Maine's 1:1 iPad in kindergarden study - a nine week random controlled trial/quasi-experimental study involving 266 pupils in 16 classes in 6 schools. No significant differences found between the iPad/no-iPad groups except for "the Hearing and Recording Sounds in Words (HRSIW) subtest, which measures a child’s level of phonemic awareness and ability to represent sounds with letters, where the iPad pupils made significantly more progress (t= 2.36, p.<.05).
